The man wanted for his alleged connection with a violent 2012 Lower Saucon Township home invasion-robbery was arrested by U.S. Marshals in the Bronx, New York, on Feb. 4, and later extradited to Easton, where he was arraigned on multiple felony charges Thursday, several news outlets reported.
David Bermudez, 37, of Bethlehem, is one of four men authorities say carried out the Woodland Road break-in, along with Juan “Goldo” Fernandez, who police said committed suicide last year; David Perez; and a man identified only as “Chino.”
The invasion at the family home of real estate developer Domenic Albanese and his wife Jodi Albanese may have stemmed from a business relationship that went bad, according to a timeline presented in January by investigators, who are still researching the relationship between Domenic Albanese and his former business partner Michael Radogna, according to a WFMZ story.
According to a grand jury’s report, the Albanese and Radogna families had an agreement to buy the Woodland Road property together and then subdivide it, but their relationship soured and Albanese was allegedly harassed, with Radogna reportedly telling others he wanted to get his money back.
Bermudez allegedly told authorities he participated in the home invasion at the behest of Radogna, who is not facing any charges at this time although the investigation into the case is ongoing, WFMZ reported.
According to police accounts, during the nighttime home invasion four men with covered faces burst into the Albanese home by kicking in a back door, and then hit Domenic Albanese on the head with a gun that discharged into a wall. Jodi Albanese was held at gunpoint, forced into a closet and made to open a safe that contained $5,000 in cash and legal documents while the couple’s four children slept.
The men then allegedly stole a 2010 minivan, a computer, iPads, jewelry, a camera, and the cash and documents.
