A Hellertown man is charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving attended property after Lower Saucon Township Police say he sideswiped a woman’s car on Rt. 412 and then fled the scene March 8.

In a news release issued Monday police said Robert Molitorisz, 74, of the 800 block of Juniper Road, got of his car “and started yelling at the woman, who had been parked on the side of the road when the accident happened at about 7:45 p.m.

Police said the woman was able to record his license plate number, which helped officers track him down.

“Police were waiting for Molitorisz when he pulled in his driveway, and observed damage to the passenger side of his vehicle. When Molitorisz got out of his car and approached police it was plain to see he had been drinking,” the news release stated.

Molitorisz’s alleged BAC wasn’t specified in the news release, but according to court records he pleaded guilty to DUI at the highest rate (.16 BAC or higher), second offense, before Northampton County Judge F.P. Kimberly McFadden in Dec. 2012.

The negotiated plea agreement was the result of an arrest that took place in Hellertown borough in April 2012.

In Jan. 2013, Molitorisz was sentenced to serve a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of five years in prison, but was subsequently admitted to a house arrest program with electronic monitoring and required to complete an Alcohol Highway Safety Program, the records from the Criminal Court of Common Pleas indicate.
