The following statistics were shared in Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp’s monthly report for March 2016–the most recent report available.

During the month of March, Hellertown Police:

  • Received 412 calls for service.
  • Responded to seven domestic/assault, five theft, one sex offense and seven traffic collision calls.
  • Issued 71 citations.
  • Filed 22 charges, including nine for narcotics possession, four for DUI, three for assault and two for theft.

Shupp noted in the report that the department’s call volume was “average” for the month, and that the department’s enforcement of the borough’s junked and abandoned vehicle ordinance is “going well” because “people are more compliant than last year.”

Two borough police officers recently completed a state inspection enforcement class, he added.

Hellertown Police Department reports are posted along with meeting minutes on the borough’s website.
