Kurt J. Tempinski, 50, of Bethlehem Township died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his residence.kurt He was the beloved husband of Karen M. (Haas) Tempinski. He was born in New Kensington on Nov. 25, 1965 to the late Joseph P. and Anna (Weiss) Tempinski. Kurt was a veteran firearm and tool mark examiner with the PA State Police who joined the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office as a special county detective. He worked for the state police from 1991 to March 2013. For almost 20 years, from June 1, 1993 to March 1, 2013, Kurt was with the state police Bureau of Forensic Services Investigations and Operational Support Division, Ballistics Section, where he was a forensic firearm and tool mark examiner. He worked in the Patrol Section from 1991-93. Kurt served in the 744th Military Police Battalion, U.S. Army Reserves, from 1993-2004, and had been deployed to combat zones in Kosovo and Iraq. From 1987-93, he was with the 28th Military Police Company, Detachment 1, where he was a Master Weapons Instructor and Master Machine Gun Instructor. He served with the 101st Military Police Company from 1984-87, during which he served a tour of duty in Egypt. Kurt graduated in 1990 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, traveling and bird watching. Kurt always enjoyed being with his family and friends, and will be missed by all those who touched him.

In addition to his loving wife of 24 years; siblings: Joanie Tempinski of Belen, N.M., Karen (Robert) Burnett of Ashburn, Va., Keith (Annata) Tempinski of Coral Springs, Fla.; stepsister: Terri (Dennis) Fisher of Murrysville; father-in-law: George T. Haas of Coopersburg; sisters-in-law: Dawn Haas of Pipersville, Marie (Christopher) Schoeffling of Trumbauersville, Georgette (Eric) Pieper of Bethlehem; nephews: Randall Harrison, Ryan Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, George Schoeffling. He was predeceased by a brother: David.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The service will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 4050 Durham Road, Ottsville. The interment will conclude services at St. John the Baptist Parish Cemetery, Ottsville. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
