A family friend who has been in direct contact with the family since the accident reported that Scott Keeney had also been released as of Wednesday night.

Keeney is a doctor of osteopathy (DO) and surgeon at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Fountain Hill, according to the hospital’s website.

WNEP Channel 16 reported that the section of the campground where the tree fell has been closed off, and that there is an ongoing investigation into the incident by Locust Township Police and park officials.

The Sunbury Daily Item reported that winds as strong as 50 mph accompanied the storms that moved through the area of the amusement park and campground at around 4:30 p.m.

The freak accident represents the second tragedy to befall Knoebels in less than a month.
