A convicted felon was allegedly in possession of a loaded Ruger LCP .380 as well as extra rounds of ammunition when Pennsylvania State Police stopped him shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday near mile marker 72.4 on I-78 West near the Williams Township-Lower Saucon Township line, the Express-Times reported Sunday.
According to the newspaper’s report, Israel Perez-Lopez, 31, of Reading, was driving a 2010 Acura with tinted windows and behaved nervously when a trooper approached his car, before granting consent to search the vehicle.
Perez-Lopez is charged with persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license, driving with a suspended license, receiving stolen property and improper window sunscreening, according to court records, which indicate that he was unable to post the $15,000 bail set by District Judge James Narlesky at his arraignment Friday.
