Kory Kemmerer accepts his Kerry’s Krunch award from Kerry Kemmerer–one of his coaches and more importantly, his dad–at Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown Friday night.

Interceptions don’t get more dramatic than the one made by Saucon Valley’s Kory Kemmerer (#4) in the final seconds of a close game against Southern Lehigh Friday night.

Senior defensive back Kemmerer made the game-saving play in the Spartans’ own end zone as the fourth quarter clock ticked down, much to the dismay of fired up Southern Lehigh fans who hoped their home field advantage on a balmy Homecoming Night would give them a critical advantage.

Thanks to Kemmerer’s interception, however, Saucon prevailed, winning the game 26-21 and improving their record to 5-0.

In an interview with Lehigh Valley Live he said the play happened very fast, and earned high praise from Head Football Coach Phil Sams, who called him “a tough, hard-nosed kid.”

For his outstanding effort Friday, Kemmerer was named the Week 3 Kerry’s Krunch winner by Football Team Equipment Manager Kerry Kemmerer–who also happens to be his dad–during the Saucon Source Post-Game Tailgate Party at Braveheart Highland Pub. See video of the Facebook live broadcast below.

As the Kerry’s Krunch Week 3 award winner, Kory will receive a t-shirt from Main Street Gym in Hellertown, which sponsors the weekly award.

If you’re a member of the #SVPantherNation be sure to visit Braveheart Highland Pub, 430 Main St., Hellertown, for the next Saucon Source Post-Game Tailgate Party and the announcement of the next Kerry’s Krunch award recipient on Friday, Sept. 30, immediately following the Saucon v. Northwestern Lehigh game, which begins at 7 p.m. at Northwestern Lehigh. The award announcement will also be broadcast on Saucon Source’s Facebook page live.

During the Post-Game Tailgate Party Braveheart offers a beer special: Panther fans receive $1 off their first domestic beer when they show their game ticket stub, program or wear red and black (school colors). A late night food menu is also available until 11, and there’s the opportunity to mingle with many of the Saucon coaches, fans and players and talk about the team as well as game highlights.
