Saturday was Week 6 for Saucon Valley youth football and cheerleading. The Saucon Valley Little Panthers traveled to Palmerton to take on the Blue Bombers.
The Saucon Valley youth coaches have again volunteered to recognize the efforts of some boys and girls participating on their teams. This recognition is a fun and special way for the coaches to show their appreciation and gratitude for the hard work and dedication the boys and girls invest in the football and cheer programs. Saucon Source is proud to be partnering with the youth coaches and sharing these accomplishments with you!
SV youth football offers “Panther Pride” awards, while cheering will choose girls for “Panther Spirit” awards.
THIS WEEK THE SPOTLIGHT SHINES ON………..
FLAGS
The Flags had a whole lot of fun on the muddy field Sunday. Taylor Rohn scampered and scored two touchdowns. Dylan Staub, Daniel Janis, AJ Sanders and Parker Duh did a great job blocking from their offensive line positions. Jaylen Caballero and Jacob Peters both made their presence felt and were all over the field.
- Panther Pride: Taylor Rohn
90 POUNDERS
- Panther Spirit: Ali Cookson and Chloe Luckenbach
110 POUNDERS (5-1)
Game Summary: The 110s got hit early, but kept swinging. Their efforts paid off as they came back to beat the Blue Bombers 12-7 with a last minute punt return for a touchdown by Constantine Donahue. But it was Celenia Ortiz and Leo Zaharakis who were credited with their tenacious and tough play from their offensive and defensive line positions. Great job Panthers!
- Panther Pride: Celenia Ortiz and Leo Zaharakis
- Panther Spirit: Jaelynn Frey, Ava FaRannte, Carolyn Marouchoc, Hannah Orlemann, Brittny Cooney and Annabella Story
130 POUNDERS (2-3)
Game Summary: It was a rollercoaster ride for the 130s. The Panthers were down 12-0 early. They kept fighting and came back to 12-12 with two Brent “Bug” Malick touchdowns. A nine-minute drive behind Ryan Lebo and his offensive line buddies to start the third quarter deep into the Blue Bomber red zone unfortunately stalled. There was a dishearteningly late touchdown by Palmerton. The 130s dropped a tough one, 18-12. Great job, guys. Panthers NEVER give up!
- Panther Pride: Brent “Bug” Malick and Ryan Lebo
- Panther Spirit: Aryana Lenner, Sara Pursell, Emma Minninger.
Next, the Saucon Valley Little Panther teams are home at Dimmick Park for a scheduled Saturday showdown with the Notre Dame Lil Crusaders. Flags kick off at 10 a.m. followed by the 90s at 11:30. Then, the 110s have a 1 p.m. start time with the 130s kicking off at 2:30.
Good luck to all the Little Panther players and cheerleaders. The Source is with you!
