The parade will begin and end at the Saucon Valley School District Campus, where participants will begin to line up at noon.

Marchers will walk west on Walnut Street, then north on Main Street through downtown, then east on Water Street, then south on Rentzheimer Drive, then east on Durham Street, and finally south on Constitution Avenue through Mountainview.

Roads along the parade route will be barricaded by 1:30 p.m. and the barricades will remain in place until the parade ends. Motorists who attempt to move or drive around barricades could be subject to penalties imposed by local police.

Rt. 412 (Main Street) traffic will be detoured onto Front Street during the parade, and parking restrictions will be in place all along the route.

This year’s parade theme is “Reduce-Reuse-Repurpose” and parade chairman David Heintzelman promised that “the 2016 Saucon Valley Spirit Parade is going to be a GREAT parade–something that you will talk about for a long time.”

A Philadelphia area, Mummers-style string band will again be one of the featured musical acts along with many middle and high school bands from throughout the Lehigh Valley.

Families were recently reminded by Heintzelman to keep a close eye on their children during the parade, as many scramble for the candy that will be thrown from large, slow-moving vehicles and floats.

The annual Saucon Valley Spirit Parade typically attracts thousands of people to the route through the heart of Hellertown.

This year’s weather forecast as of Monday is for mostly sunny skies with a high near 60 Sunday.
