Verna A. Sterner, 98, of Hellertown died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at Arden Courts of Allentown. She was the wife of the late Walter B. Sterner.

Verna A. Sterner, 98, of Hellertown died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at Arden Courts of Allentown.sterner She was the wife of the late Walter B. Sterner, who died June 29, 2004. She was born in Bethlehem on Oct. 6, 1918 to the late Truman and Susan (Molnar) Weber. Verna was a secretary to the principal at the former Reinhard Elementary School, Hellertown for 14 years until retiring in 1972, and was a secretary at Lehigh University, Bethlehem. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown, a former member of the Bethlehem Steel Club, and past president of the Woman’s Club and the former Saucon Valley Order of Eastern Star. Verna and her late husband were avid bridge and pinochle players.

SURVIVORS

Sons: Daniel J. (Cynthia R.) Sterner of Hellertown, Donald W. (Stacy J.) Sterner of Kutztown; grandchildren: Kimberly A. (Michael) Hoffner, Christopher D. (Beth) Sterner, Jeffrey D. (Kristen) Sterner; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Kelsey, Andrew and Kelly. She was predeceased by siblings: John T. Weber and Claire E. Grubb.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
