On Saturday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. for the 19th year in a row luminaria will be lit in various neighborhoods throughout Bethlehem (including downtown), Bethlehem Township, Hellertown, Lower Saucon Township and Coopersburg to benefit New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem.

This is the first year Hellertown has participated in the Luminary Night fundraiser, and luminaria will be lit along Main Street in the area of Yogamos (400 block of Main Street), according to organizer Nancy Faryniak.

In Lower Saucon Township, the neighborhoods of Woodfields, Cherrywood, Saucon Terrace and Quarter Mile Road will be among those participating.

The event is completely run by volunteers and last year raised approximately $80,000 for New Bethany Ministries, which serves hungry and homeless residents of the Lehigh Valley.

For more information about the event, visit the Luminaria Night Facebook page and the New Bethany Ministries website, where donations can be made online.
