Lower Saucon Township Police have alerted residents to a “distraction burglary” they say occurred in the 1900 Block of Polk Valley Road May 12.

“A male came to the door claiming to be an employee of the Hellertown Borough Authority and showed some sort of ID card,” police said in a Facebook post Tuesday. “The male claimed that the water authority was doing work to a water line in the area and he needed to check his water meter. While in the basement, another unknown person entered the residence.”

“Residents are warned to use caution against allowing anyone to enter their home,” police stressed. “If there are any suspicious circumstances, contact our department immediately to have an officer respond.”
