Three students were recognized Friday for their entries in the 2nd annual Saucon Valley School District Art Show.

The students’ artwork was selected from hundreds of pieces that were part of the district-wide art show held May 25.

As a result of their creative efforts, the trio will have their artwork on display at Vassi’s Drive-In, 1666 Main St., Hellertown, from Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 30. In addition, the students were awarded Vassi’s gift certificates.

Nayoung Im shows off her winning artwork inside Vassi’s dining room.

Nayoung Im just completed her sophomore year. Her teacher, Mr. Jason Gordon, said she created the hanging atriums using colored pencils on bristol board. She did an excellent job capturing the different tones of color in the plants. She also gave great attention and detail to the highlights and reflections from the glass vessels.

Soon-to-be 6th grader,Brooke Anders proudly displays her drawing.

Brooke Anders, who just finished her 5th grade year, created this detailed pencil drawing of a crouching cat–one of her favorite subjects. Her art teacher, Arianne Schnalzer, said that Brooke spends tons of time carefully drawing from observation.

Rising freshman Lena Redfern could not make the little ceremony held Friday at Vassi’s. Middle school Art teacher Felicia Parish, however, shared that Lena used a linoleum block to cut her design and ink to print her design. She used alternating colors of black and white for contrast.

Congratulations to the talented students and kudos to Vassi’s for sponsoring such a project that brings our schools and local businesses together!

Great job by all involved. The Source is with you!
