COB Fundraisers Continue This Month at Bella’s, Friedens Church Peach Festival
The Community Outreach Benefit block party, held July 30, was a great success, but efforts to help the Armstrong family and the others continue, thanks to generous merchants and community groups. Two opportunities to help–and get some great food–are coming up for Saucon Valley residents.
You may have read last month on Saucon Source about the Armstrong family of Wassergass, who are facing crushing medical expenses. Daughter Emily is on life-support and being cared for at home by mom Lisa, her four sisters and professional nurses. On top of that, earlier this year Lisa began treatment following a diagnosis of breast cancer. The Armstrongs are one of three families being helped by the 16th annual Community Outreach Benefit, a daylong block party held at St. John’s UCC in Coopersburg.
The block party, held July 30, was a great success, but efforts to help the Armstrongs and the others continue, thanks to generous merchants and community groups. Two opportunities to help–and get some great food–are coming up for Saucon Valley residents.
On Aug. 8, 9 and 10, Bella’s Ristorante, 639 Main St., Hellertown, will donate a percentage of all checks to COB.
Then, on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 2 to 6 p.m., Friedens Lutheran Church in Friedensville (Upper Saucon Township) will hold its annual Peach Festival, with all proceeds going to COB.
Of course, donations to COB also can be sent until mid-October to St. John’s UCC, 538 E. Thomas St., Coopersburg, PA 18036.
In addition to the Armstrongs, COB this year also is helping Donna DeSautels of Center Valley, who suffered a stroke and brain injuries, and Jeanine Greco of Quakertown, who has a severe case of multiple sclerosis.
