Michael J. Fota, 94, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Dorothy D. (Daday) Fota.

Michael J. Fota, 94, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Dorothy D. (Daday) Fota. He was born in Northampton on Sept. 10, 1923 to the late Michael F. and Katherine (Shimko) Fota. Michael worked 40.5 years at the former Bethlehem Steel as a machinist, crane man and in the electric furnace department. He was very proud of building his own house and laid the block and brick. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard. Michael was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

Son: Gregory M. Fota and his wife Georgia of Bethlehem; sister: Jeanette wife of Robert Cesanek of Bath; grandchildren: Abigail Fota and her husband Michael Gross and their children: Elliot, Oliver and Spencer; Robert Fota, Catherine Baldry and Lauren Miltenberger and her children: Alison and Kyle. He was predeceased by a son: Bernard J. Fota; infant granddaughter: Tammy Ann Fota; siblings: Helen Strivosky, Mary Haffner, Elizabeth Schneider, Katherine Updegrove, Joseph Fota.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, all at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour Saturday will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
