After several mild, sunny days, the weather in the Saucon Valley is expected to go downhill Thursday, when a storm bringing rain, wind and possibly even some wet snow will approach the area.

According to the National Weather Service, one to two inches of rain is expected Thursday afternoon through Friday, “and may result in localized poor drainage and small stream flooding.”

“Winds could gust 35-45 mph Friday into Friday night, with (the) potential for a few downed tree limbs and isolated power outages,” the NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook statement Wednesday.

After days with highs in the 50s, temperatures are expected to return to near-normal levels, with highs in the lower 40s and lows in the lower 30s.

Rain showers could mix with snow showers Friday night, according to the latest NWS forecast.

According to the Facebook page for PA Weather Action, snow could occur earlier for some parts of the state.

“As…low pressure transfers to the coast late Thursday night into early Friday morning, colder air will filter into the system. This will allow for the rain to change to a period of snow during the first half of Friday for some areas,” a post published Tuesday stated. “Currently we are favoring areas in Northern PA changing over to snow Friday morning, with Northeast PA having the best chance to see several inches of snow.”

Another update about the storm is scheduled to be posted Wednesday evening.
