Residents of Hellertown borough and Lower Saucon Township will have a chance to cheer for their ā€œhometownā€ team at a charity softball game Saturday, Aug. 18, following Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day.

Mayor David Heintzelman said the teams representing each municipality will be made up of employees, and the rivalry will all be in good fun, since the municipalities often work together on projects and to solve problems.

The game will be played on the large baseball field at Dimmick Park and will help fill a lull in the action after Community Day ends and before a free Music in the Park concert begins at the nearby bandshell.

A $1 admission fee will be charged, with the winning team committed to donating all of the money raised to a Saucon Valley nonprofit organization.

There will be no practicing beforehand, Heintzelman said.

ā€œI think it’s going to be a fun time,ā€ he told council.
