A Lower Saucon Township teen is being charged as a juvenile after township police say he allegedly used the social media app Snapchat to threaten a school shooting Wednesday.
In a post on the department’s Crimewatch website Thursday, police said the 14-year-old boy made a post using the popular app that threatened “shooting up a school,” but did not specify a school.
“After consulting with the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office the juvenile male was referred to Northampton County Juvenile Authorities on a charge of Terroristic Threats and was subsequently detained in the Northampton County Juvenile Detention facility,” police said.
The boy’s name won’t be released because he is being charged as a juvenile, and police did not indicate whether the boy is a Saucon Valley School District student or not.
