Whether you are a classic car aficionado or not, the Star Hellertown Classic Car Show on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will have something for you to enjoy.

The car show–the first to be held at Star Pre-owned, which is located at 1730 Main St., Hellertown–will benefit Cops ‘N Kids of Lehigh Valley, a Bethlehem-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect kids and the community through literacy.

Car show registration will be available on Sunday before the show–which will be held rain or shine–for $15 per vehicle. Click here for the entry form and more information.

Show attendees will judge the cars, and prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Best Paint and in four model year classes (Pre-1960, 1960-1979, 1980-1999 and 2000-Today).

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each of the model year classes, with each winner receiving a ribbon and the first and second place winners receiving a $500 and $250 credit, respectively, toward their next purchase of a vehicle from Star Pre-owned. Each of the four first place winners will also receive a car cleaning kit.

The Best in Show and Best in Paint winners will each receive a custom trophy, a car cleaning kit and a $1000 coupon credit toward their next purchase of a vehicle from Star.

Star Pre-owned sales representative Steve Miller of Hellertown said attendees can expect to see everything from vehicles their grandparents would likely have driven to modern and classic muscle cars.

“A lot of people are saying it is awesome that we are doing this; that Hellertown needed something like this,” he said.

Another highlight of the car show will be a prize wheel attendees can spin to win.

One of the prizes will be a 2006 Kia Spectra valued at $3,695 (see below for details).

Kids’ activities, free hamburgers and hot dogs, free drinks, music provided by DJ Frank of Ultra Sonic Audio, a basket raffle featuring many prizes and gift certificates donated by Saucon Valley area businesses and a 50/50 will be other highlights of the event.

Local insurance agent Brandon Wimbish of Farmers Insurance Wimbish Agency in Hellertown will have a car in the show–his 1967 Chevy Nova–and will also have a booth at it with information about insurance options for both classic and non-classic automobiles, as well as car-related giveaways (while supplies last).
