Here is the current state of  FC Steel……

FC Steel ’09 Girls with a little post-game celebration

’09 Girls

  • 3-1 WINNERS over Patriot FC
  • Coaches: Anders Isaksson and Cora Snyder

The ’09 Girls Black team were on the road this weekend playing Patriot FC at Washington Crossing Park.  Thirty-seven seconds after the whistle blew to start the game, Sophia Shutkufski secured Steel’s first goal courtesy of her left foot.  Steel continued to apply pressure throughout the entire half, but the scoreboard still read 1-0 at the break.  About ten minutes into the 2nd half, Gracie Huffer led Kayla Snyder with a beautiful pass into the box where Snyder sealed the deal to make it 2-0 in favor of the Steelers.  With a couple minutes remaining, FC Steel’s Athena Kolokas hit a left-footed serve into the box where teammate Giuliana Meyer was able to finish.  FC Steel were 3-1 winners.  Next weekend, the ’09 Girls will play in the Coppa Classico tournament.

FC Steel Boys’

Kai Mattern strikes gold twice for Steel against Arsenal Academy.

’06 Orange

  • 3-2 WINNER over Arsenal Academy
  • Coaches: Scott Cullen and Brandon Chambers

The ’06 Orange Boys competed with Arsenal Academy at the Swain School in Allentown on Saturday.  The Steelers got off to a difficult start as they gave up an “own goal” to Arsenal only minutes into the game.  However, the ’06 Boys battled back and scored the next three.  Kai Mattern had two of the goals and Abel “Bailey” Veltri recorded the other.  FC Steel held off a late Arsenal Academy charge and held on for the 3-2 victory.

Josh Lee of FC Steel competes for the ball in the air.

’06 Black

  • fell 3-1 to BSM
  • Coaches: Brandon Chambers and Scott Cullen

FC Steel ’06 Black could not keep their groove going against BSM on Sunday at Penn State Lehigh Valley.  BSM struck first early in the game and Steel’s Cain Wessner battled back scoring the equalizer with short time left in the 1st half.  BSM was able to convert twice more on their opportunities, but Steel just could not break out of the Sunday afternoon with any consistency.

’07 Orange

  • Coaches: Brandon Chambers and Scott Cullen
  • bye week

Coach Cullen and his ’07 Steelers Black.

’07 Black

  • 3-0 WINNER over BSM Elite Cosmos (NJ)
  • Coaches: Scott Cullen and Brandon Chambers

On Saturday, the FC Steel ’07 Black team won 3-0 against BSM Elite ’07 Cosmos. Jayden Vasquez scored, two sweet goals and Mikey Mittica scored one by crashing on the ball after it was deflected by the goalkeeper. The Steel defense was in a stingy mood and prevented the Cosmos from scoring.  The “Steel Curtain” goalkeepers, Joey Varano and Bryan Higgins, had an answer for every chance the Cosmos could create.

’08 Boys

  • 3-3 draw with Yardley-Makefield Fury (YMS)
  • Coach: Scott Cullen

On a beautiful Sunday morning, the FC Steel 2008 Boys traveled to Yardley in Lower Bucks County to face the YMS ’08 Fury.  In a tale of two halves, the Steel boys ran out early to a 3-0 lead, with goals by Hayden Sampson, Alex Verdi and Maddox Bauz.  However, in the second half it was all Fury, as they scored three goals within a span of three minutes.  The 3-3 tie put the Steel ’08 Boys season record at 6-2-1.  The  ’08’s will travel to Hershey next weekend for the Columbus Day Soccer Blast Tournament where they will battle many teams from Pennsylvania and Maryland.

’09 Boys

  • lost 6-1
  • Coach: Brandon Chambers
