What is described as a Community Outreach Meeting regarding school safety in the Saucon Valley School District is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

In a letter to parents Thursday, Superintendent Dr. Craig Butler said updated safety and security measures for the schools will be discussed at the meeting.

“District and building level administration will discuss recent enhancements in district safety protocols and procedures,” he said.

A question-and-answer session will follow the formal presentation portion of the meeting, which is expected to last about 75 minutes in its entirety.

The topic of school safety and security has also been addressed recently by a parent, David Repyneck of Lower Saucon Township, who shared a letter about the subject with Saucon Source and later told the school board he believes it should follow a local trend among public schools and hire a School Resource Officer.
