On Sunday the FC Steel ’06 Orange Team was back in action.  This time it was against the Cedar Stars Academy Bergen.  In the sixth minute of the game, Diego Severo got the Steelers on the scoreboard with a sweet goal.  About five minutes later, FC Steel’s Tanner Riefenstahl took a well-placed through ball from Michael Deluhery to beat the Cedar Stars defense for another score.  In the second half, Logan Thrash emphatically finished all scoring with a blast to the back of the net.  Steel goalkeeper Shane Brobst pitched another shutout for the Orange Crush as they look to climb into 1st Place in the Central Atlantic Premier division.

Logan Thrash pushes the pace as Mauricio Vasquez and Johnny Kittelstad trail the play.

’07 Black

  • 1-1 draw with Thistle FC Storm
  • Coaches: Scott Cullen and Brandon Chambers

The FC Steel boys U12 Black ended their season on Sunday with a 1-1 tie against Thistle FC Storm. It was a tough battle, but the boys proved how committed they are to their team. The defense worked hard to keep the ball out of their goal with goalkeeper Gavin Yartymyk stopping a few challenging shots. Giving up an early goal inspired the Steelers to make up for it and get a little revenge in the second half.  Jayden Olivencia chased the ball down with a header and tapped it into the net in the final minutes to bring the game to a tie.  It was a great finish by ’07 Black.

’09 Boys

  • 2-0 WINNERS against Warrington Soccer Club
  • Coach: Brandon Chambers

The 2009 boys team came away with an EDP win on Sunday against Warrington Soccer Club. Tanner Heckman put the team on the board with a goal in the first half. That goal was quickly followed by a second goal off a direct-kick by Jason Brabec to put the team up 2-0 at half. Thanks to a strong defense and great saves by goalie Owen Hall, the team ended the game with a 2-0 shutout. Next week the boys will finish their fall season with a game on the road against Yardley-Makefield.

Tanner Riefenstahl gets a high-five from teammate Michael Deluhery after the two hooked up for an FC Steel goal.
