The Quakertown Police Department said Friday that it is reminding drivers that its officers “will be proactively enforcing violations at pedestrian crosswalks.”

In a post published on the department’s Crimewatch site, police said that over two days 33 vehicles were stopped for crosswalk violations, resulting in 33 crosswalk citations, one driving under suspension citation, one arrest for False ID to Police and two arrests for outstanding arrest warrants.

Police didn’t say where the alleged violations occurred, but noted that the fine for failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk is $50, plus costs.

Pleading guilty to the citation also puts 2 points on your driver’s license.

“Remember, accidents and citations are preventable by paying attention and driving safe,” the department stated.
