A man wanted by Florida authorities and several Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies was taken into custody in Springfield Township, Bucks County, Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m., township police said Monday in a post on their Crimewatch site.
Police said officers were investigating what appeared to be a disabled/suspicious vehicle on Rt. 309 south of Coopersburg when they identified the passenger in the vehicle as Chad Nickolas Tanner, 21, of Florida.
Police said Tanner had an active arrest warrant out of his home state for failure to appear, an active warrant out of Wilkes-Barre for retail theft, an active warrant out of Luzerne County for failure to appear (on an original charge of theft) and an active warrant out of Stroudsburg on failure to appear (on original charges of theft and false identification).
On Friday, police said Tanner allegedly attempted to disguise his identity by using a fictitious name before he was positively identified.
Tanner was committed to the Bucks County Correctional Institution to await extradition, police said.
The driver of the vehicle that was stopped had a suspended license and could not provide valid proof of insurance, police said. They did not identify that individual in their post.
