Hellertown Police said Tuesday that a man wanted by authorities in both Virginia and Indiana was arrested and charged with allegedly loitering and prowling and providing unsworn falsification to law enforcement last month.

Both charges are misdemeanors.

In a news release, police said Jorge Maffioli Franco, 31, of Norfolk, Va., was located in the course of an investigation into vehicle break-ins in the 700 block of Magnolia Road and the 100 block of Constitution Avenue.

“(Franco) left behind his jeans, pill bottle with his name on it and other belongings on one of the vehicles,” police said.

Police said Franco’s out-of-state warrants are for driving without a license (Virginia) and theft (Indiana).

Following a May 22 preliminary arraignment before District Judge Alan Mege in Lower Saucon Township Franco was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 straight bail.

Franco’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. in the district court.
