Ashley Reigle is a woman of many talents. She began her literary career as an illustrator, working with Saucon Valley author Larry Deibert on a children’s Christmas book several years ago, before becoming an author with her latest illustrated work, “Draw Away the Drizzle.”

Saucon Source recently sat down with Reigle, of Center Valley, to discuss her expanding repertoire and learn more about what motivates and inspires her.

You were already a successful illustrator. What inspired you to become an author as well?

I have always enjoyed writing as a hobby and creating characters, so I wanted to try putting a story along side my artwork.

What’s the format/theme for Draw Away the Drizzle? Is there a recommended age range for it?

Draw Away the Drizzle is a children’s book that can be enjoyed by most ages, but is geared toward younger kids learning how to read. So, I would say probably under third grade age. It’s also a nice size for parents to read to young ones at bedtime.

Who or what inspired you to become an artist and writer? Do you hope to do the same for children who read your book?

My children actually inspired my creating stories, as I have always loved making up tales to tell them and making artwork to make them smile. I really hope my art inspires kids to use their imagination.

Where can people purchase the book and where/when can they meet you?

My book is available on my website AshleyReigle.com as well as on Amazon. Buying on my website as opposed to Amazon ensures that the copies will be signed ones. On Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m., I will be doing a signing and reading at the Barnes & Noble store in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley in Center Valley. Times for this event, as well as the times for any upcoming events, can be found on my website.

Do you plan to produce more children’s books? What else are you working on?

Yes, I definitely hope to bring more illustrated stories to life. I have a great love for creating and actually have some others written, as well as some of the artwork to go along with them. For the time being I will be finishing up those pieces.
