Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) saw 76,691 passengers in April, which was an increase of 4.3 percent from April 2023, according to data released by the airport this week.

Airport officials attributed the increase in passengers in part due to Allegiant Air launching nonstop flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in April.

“We’re excited to expand connectivity for our passengers, and ABE is certainly recognized as a very convenient travel option. The Airport continues preparing for the rush of summer travelers with industry experts predicting record breaking numbers at airports across the country,” said Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) Executive Director Thomas R. Stoudt.

According to the data, Allegiant Air increased its passenger traffic in April by 12.5 percent, while Delta Air’s traffic remained flat. United Airlines’ traffic from ABE decreased by 4 percent and American Airlines’ decreased by 4.4 percent compared to last April.

Heading into the busy summer travel season that begins this weekend, airport officials advised anyone planning to fly into or out of Allentown to give themselves extra time to process through security checkpoints and check in for flights 30 to 45 minutes prior to departure.

Bags must be checked at least 30 minutes prior to departure, they added.
