A road closure in Upper Saucon Township is expected to have a significant impact on local traffic next week.

Township officials said Thursday that a section of Preston Lane near the Southern Lehigh Public Library will be closed in both directions for work on the Saucon Rail Trail Pedestrian Bridge starting Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The work is expected to last until Thursday, Oct. 31, and will necessitate a full lane closure in both directions.

Residents of the area who utilize Preston Lane should ā€œmake alternate driving plans now,ā€ the township’s Facebook post said.

Other nearby landmarks include the Center Valley branch of the United States Postal Service and Upper Saucon Township Community Park.

Preston Lane is one of the most used roads in the Center Valley area, linking institutions like the library, DeSales University and Southern Lehigh High School with Rt. 378 and other major streets.
