Center for Hope & Healing Opens at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus

Center for Hope Healing
The Center for Hope & Healing was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday. Located in the Women & Babies Pavilion at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus, the center features a Mastectomy bra boutique, salon services especially for women undergoing chemotherapy and a clothing shop featuring headscarves and adaptive apparel for cancer patients.

A special place where individuals undergoing treatment for cancer can find support, solace and hopefully empowerment to conquer the disease now exists at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus in Milford Township near Quakertown.

Described as the first facility of its kind in the area, St. Luke’s Cancer Center’s new Center for Hope & Healing is located in the hopsital’s Women & Babies Pavilion and includes a Mastectomy bra boutique; a salon area featuring hair, makeup and nail services; and an area that features adaptive, scan-friendly clothing and custom headscarves for cancer patients. Local businesses including American Hairlines and LuxCare Clothing partnered with the hospital to develop the offerings available at the center, which opened with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting Thursday.

“These services reflect our commitment to ensuring every patient receives comprehensive care that addresses their physical needs, their emotional needs, and their sense of self,” said Mary-Kate Cellmer, St. Luke’s Vice President, Department of Oncology. “We understand that healing is a holistic process, and we are here to provide all-encompassing support.”

St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus President Dennis Pfleiger speaks at Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the hospital’s new Center for Hope & Healing, which is part of its cancer center. The center offers patients undergoing treatment for cancer a variety of products and services, from hair and nails to mastectomy bras and custom scan-friendly headscarves.

St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus President Dennis Pfleiger thanked Penn Stainless and Elevate Construction for the support both companies provided for the project, noting that bringing an idea like the Center to life “doesn’t just happen by chance.”

Cellmer said she has been an advocate for patients in need of peaceful sanctuaries within a hospital setting in the past, and was excited to see the Center for Hope & Healing open less than two years after the Upper Bucks Campus opened its doors.

“We’re all here for the same reason, and it’s for a better patient experience,” she said.

The Center for Hope & Healing will also host support groups for various types of cancer, including a new blood cancer support group that will begin meeting Tuesday, March 4.
