DISTRICT INFORMATION
MEMORIAL DAY: All SVSD schools will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS: May’s school board meetings will be at 7 p.m. in the HS LGI Tuesday, May 13 & 27.
MONTHLY PRESENTATION BY DR. JARROD SPENCER MAY 20: Dr. Jarrod Spencer will present “Recharge, How to Rest and Recover Like a Pro Athlete” as part of the Mind of an Athlete series. The presentation schedule is as follows: Athletes at 2:30 p.m., Coaches at 5:30 p.m. and Parents/Community at 6:30 p.m.
HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT: High School Senior Awards Night will be on Thursday, May 22.
COMMUNICATIONS AWARD: The SVSD was recognized in the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association’s 2024 Excellence in Communications Contest. With over 200 entries judged this year, SVSD earned two awards of Excellence and one of Honorable Mention. The awards are a testament to the passion, dedication and support students, staff and community show for SVSD.

SVSD COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: The district’s 2025-2028 Comprehensive Plan is complete and can be found on the district’s website.
READING OLYMPICS: Saucon Valley’s Reading Olympics teams had a strong showing at their annual competition, which was held at Easton Area High School on April 10. The High School team placed 4th overall (one point away from 3rd). The Middle School team, The Brady Bunch, finished 6th out of 21 teams and were only seven points shy of third place. Both teams did a great job answering questions about the books they’ve read this year and had a lot of fun along the way.
WHAT’S SO COOL ABOUT MANUFACTURING?: Congratulations to Saucon Valley’s What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Team! Saucon Valley, in partnership with Allen Organ, won the award for Outstanding Creativity and has qualified for the State Competition in May. Good luck to the team and their advisors in Harrisburg!
ENVIROTHON TEAM ARE NORTHAMPTON COUNTY CHAMPIONS: Congratulations to the Envirothon Team, who are back to back Northampton County Champions! The team members are: Stepan Goudsouzian – Forestry; Jacob Norwood – Wildlife; Ryan Pakzad – Soils; Nevair Goudsouzian – Aquatics; and Kyle Chi – Current Issues. Their advisor is Kim Mertz.
SENIOR JACOB KELLY SKILLsUSA CHAMPION: Congratulations to senior Jacob Kelly who is a SkillsUSA Champion for Plumbing. Best of luck to Jacob in the next level of competition!
DEBATE LVIDA SEMIFINALISTS: On April 24, debate team members attended the LVIDA finals at Palisades High School, proudly representing SVHS. The semi-finalists who advanced through rounds at Wilson Area High School on March 4 and Northwestern Lehigh High School on March 12 are Lucy Norwood, Nitya Thakkar, Stephen Vautrin and John Murphy.
4-TIME TENNIS CHAMPION: Congratulations to SVHS boys tennis player Deven Pandey, who is a 2025 District XI AA Tennis Champion! Deven is only the second boys player and 4th player overall to win four consecutive District XI championships in District XI history. Devan will now move into the PIAA State Championship Tournament in Hershey.
COLONIAL LEAGUE ACADEMIC ALL-STARS: Congratulations to 2025 Colonial League Academic All-Stars Cole Hubert and Lucy Norwood. Along with representatives of the other 14 Colonial League Member Schools, Cole and Lucy were recognized at a recent ceremony. Both are multisport athletes and Top 5 in their class.
WRESTLING AND BASEBALL HONORS: Congratulations to Cole Hubert, who in a five-hour span on Sunday, April 27, pitched a no-hitter on the mound, collected his 300th career strikeout and was named the 2025 District XI AA Wrestling Scholar Athlete of the Year.
DIGITAL SIGNS: You’ll notice a new digital sign at the Walnut Street/Constitution Avenue campus entrance, with a second digital sign on the south side of the campus coming soon. The new signs will be used to highlight upcoming events, news and special recognitions.
OLWEUS BULLYING PREVENTION PROGRAM: Parents and guardians are encouraged to learn more about the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and an upcoming questionnaire for students in grades 3-12. An informational letter about the program includes a parental opt-out. See the SVSD Smore Newseletter for the links.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN: Visit SVSD’s kindergarten registration page for information and instructions. Welcome Saucon Valley Class of 2038!
SCHOLARSHIP SPONSOR OPPORTUNITY: The Saucon Valley High School Scholarship Committee has announced a scholarship sponsorship opportunity for community members and businesses. If you or a business would be interested in sponsoring a scholarship for graduating seniors, please contact Jeremy Kittek at Jeremy.Kittek@svpanthers.org.
COMMENCEMENT: The SVHS Class of 2025 will have its Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Montford E. Illick Stadium. The ceremony’s rain date is June 7.
SCHOOL-AFFILIATED INFORMATION
GRADES K-2 MUSICAL: The K-2 musical, The Wizard of Oz, will be performed Friday, May 9 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend this exciting event.
SPRING CONCERT SERIES: The Spring Concert Series will take place on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16. Thursday, May 15’s concert will feature the ES Band and choirs at all levels, while Friday’s concert will feature all of the MS and HS bands. Both concerts begin at 6 p.m.
