Rail Trail Sign Defaced With Hateful Symbol

Editor’s note: Saucon Source has decided not to publish a photo of the graffiti because we believe doing so is in the best interests of our community, which is known as a welcoming place. With regard to incidents involving hateful images, photojournalism can also be subject to misinterpretation, as it may be viewed as glorifying such messaging. We will not be complicit in allowing this. We do believe it is important for the public to know the serious nature of the graffiti that was painted on public property.
A sign along the Saucon Rail Trail in Lower Saucon Township has been vandalized for the second time in as many months, disrupting the peaceful atmosphere for which the popular path is known.
Lower Saucon Township Police shared on their Crimewatch site that both sides of the Wagner-Holum Farmstead sign near Meadows Road were defaced with gold spray paint; an act of vandalism they described as “similar to the incident that occurred on May 30, 2025.“
Police said they responded to the latest incident involving vandalism of the sign at 9:24 a.m. Thursday.
They did not say what was spray-painted on the sign Thursday, however Saucon Source has viewed a photo of it taken shortly after it was vandalized and the graffiti on it included a swastika.
As of Thursday afternoon, the sign was covered in black plastic. The vandalism that occurred in May was concealed in the same manner.
Police are asking for the public’s help with identifying the person or persons responsible for damaging the sign, which is township property.
Anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area is being asked to submit a tip through the department’s Crimewatch Tipline or contact Sgt. Timothy Connell at 610-625-8737 or tconnell@lowersaucontownship.org.
“Your help is crucial in bringing those responsible to justice and preventing future incidents of vandalism in our community,” police said.
The Wagner-Holum Farmstead sign describes the history of the property, which is was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
