Anthony T. ‘Tony’ Herstich Jr. (1949 – 2025)

Anthony T. “Tony” Herstich Jr., 76, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025 at the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was the loving husband of Dianne J. (Prospero) Herstich, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Allentown on Feb. 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Anthony T. Herstich Sr. and Stella (Sigley) Herstich. Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a technician at OMI Water Treatment Plant in Fogelsville and previously worked at Hellertown Manufacturing (Champion Spark Plug) until its closing, as well as at Ford Electronics in Lansdale. Tony was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church of Hellertown. He also enjoyed fellowship through many local social clubs including The Wanderers, Mercantile Club, Heights AA and the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 American Legion. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the Eagles and Phillies.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his children: Tara L. Abel of Emmaus and Anthony D. (Jeanne) Herstich of Odessa, Fla.; grandchildren: Amber and Samantha Abel, AJ, Zoey, Aiden Herstich, Ava, Drew, Jake and Gina; and two great-grandchildren: Sterling and Nova Abel. He was predeceased by his sister: Patricia Herstich; and son-in-law: Christopher J. Abel.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown, and again on Friday, Aug. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Main St., Hellertown. Friday morning’s calling hour will be followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery of Hellertown with military honors.
