A Hellertown teenager was unhurt when he lost control of the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving in Williams Township last month, state police at Belfast said.

In a news release, police said that on Dec. 12 shortly after 11 p.m. the 17-year-old was traveling west on Island Park Road west of Tumble Creek Road when he reportedly lost the ability to steer the car.

Police said the boy also reported that there was “no braking in the vehicle.”

As a result, they said the car went off the left side of the road and came to a stop on an embankment.
