Richard E. Petran (1938 – 2026)

Richard E. Petran, 87, of Upper Saucon Township, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown. He was the husband of Judith A. Petran, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2024. Born in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, on Sept. 11, 1938, Richard was the son of the late Jarcu Alex Petran and Ethel (Zisko) Petran. Richard dedicated 31 years of service to the Bethlehem Steel, Saucon Division, where he worked as a millwright. Prior to working at the Bethlehem Steel, he was employed by the former Reilly Oil Co. Richard enjoyed doing mechanical work on equipment, automobiles and trucks and took great pride in his work. Richard was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

SURVIVORS

He is survived by his sister, Rachel Hudock and her husband Francis G. of Lower Saucon Township, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John (1990) and Louis Petran (2023). Richard’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to management and the entire staff at Saucon Valley Manor for their care, compassion and kindness shown to Richard during his stay. Sincere gratitude is extended to Family Pillars Hospice for their outstanding care and kindness shown to Richard.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to his visitation period from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The visitation period will be followed by the service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
