A bicycle that was stolen from a Hellertown bike shop Wednesday hopefully won’t be hard to spot and recover, since it is a pivot bike, according to authorities who are investigating the case.

Hellertown Police say they received a report of the theft of the bicycle from Saucon Valley Bikes at 824 Main Street at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

“The theft is believed to have occurred on Aug. 1 between 6 and 7 p.m.,” police said in a Facebook post Thursday.

The bicycle is described as a blue and carbon-colored Pivot Mach 4 Pro XO1 Eagle bicycle (see below for a photo of that model).

Police released photos of the bicycle and video surveillance still images of the man suspected of stealing it riding away on it.

The thickset man appears to have close-cropped dark brown hair, and is pictured wearing glasses and a white polo-type shirt. He can be seen riding north on Main Street–away from the bike shop–before rounding the corner and heading west on W. Depot Street.

Anyone with information about the theft/suspect or who finds the bike is asked to contact Hellertown Police by calling the Northampton County 911 Center at 610-759-2200 (non-emergency number).
