The Saucon Valley Lions’ 49th annual Lehigh Valley Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show was held Saturday and Sunday at Saucon Valley High School and a highlight of this year’s show was a new event: a Hellertown Rocks Kindness Project rock-painting contest that was open to both individuals and businesses.
The contest was the idea of show chairwoman Amy Musser–who leads the project–and was judged by Musser’s friend and art teacher Jenna Naito and Hellertown mayor David Heintzelman.
The individual winners were Michelle Albino for age group 16 and up, Aubrey Olsovsky for age group 10-15 and Bella Strunk for age group 4-9. Gigi from Frey’s Better Foods in Hellertown won for the business category.
The annual Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show is an important fundraiser for the Lions club.
Proceeds from it support their various philanthropic endeavors, which include the awarding of annual scholarships to Saucon Valley High School graduating seniors and supporting charities that benefit individuals who are visually impaired.
