Bike Ride With Police
The sweet reward for completing Monday’s Bike Ride With the Police was a frozen treat at Rita’s Italian Ice on Main Street in Hellertown. The Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township Police departments organize the family ride each year to help promote bike safety and teach kids that police officers are friendly and approachable. Pictured above are some of the families and officers who participated, including Lower Saucon Police Chief Tom Barndt and Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp.

The ride to Bingen and back ended with frozen treats and smiles for all at Rita’s Italian Ice on Main Street in Hellertown.

The ride has a dual purpose: to help promote bike safety and to show kids that local police officers are both approachable and friendly.
