Dog Ran Into Road, Driver Slowed, Cars Crashed, Police Say

A chain reaction-type accident Tuesday morning occurred after a driver slowed because a small dog had run into the roadway and a pedestrian was attempting to catch the canine, Lower Saucon Township Police said Wednesday in a news release.

According to police, the accident happened at 7:28 a.m. in the area of 2109 Leithsville Road (Route 412), after the driver–a Bethlehem Township man–slowed in front of a woman from Bethlehem Township who also then slowed down.

A third driver traveling behind the woman was unable to stop in order to avoid rear-ending her car, and the collision pushed her car into the first car, police said.

Police identified the driver of the car that didn’t stop in time as Kevin Miller, of the 200 block of E. High Street, Hellertown, and said he was cited under the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code for allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed.
