When is the Saucon Valley Spirit Parade?

One of the most-anticipated community events each year in the Saucon Valley is right around the corner!

The 2015 Saucon Valley Spirit Parade will take place in Hellertown borough on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. (there is no rain date for the parade).

Lineup for marchers will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Saucon Valley School District campus between Walnut Street and Polk Valley Road.

The parade route will proceed west from the campus on Walnut Street to north on Main Street to east on Water Street to south on Rentzheimer Drive to east on Durham Street to south on Constitution Avenue and then back to the schools.

This year’s parade theme will be the 1960s/Woodstock, so many marchers and floats will likely be decked out in hippie-inspired fashions and decor.

A highlight of the six-division parade is expected to be a performance by Hulmeville’s Uptown String Band, which is sponsored by the Springtown Inn.

The deadline to register in this year’s parade is Friday, Oct. 9 (see below for the registration/release form, which includes detailed information about the event and the rules for participation).

Awards will be issued to participants in a number of categories, with the judges’ area located at Northampton and Water streets next to Saucon Manor.

Anyone traveling into town to participate in or watch the parade is advised to arrive early and carpool if possible, as parking will be limited and roads along the parade route will be closed to traffic, with detours starting at 1:30 p.m.

Designated parking for parade participants will be available in the SVSD campus lots.

There is a Facebook page for the spirit parade, where information will continue to be shared leading up to Oct. 18.

Saucon Valley residents should also remember to mark their calendars for Trick-or-Treat in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.
