Hellertown Historical Society Unveils New Logo
Months after announcing a logo contest as part of a rebranding effort, members of the Hellertown Historical Society unveiled the winning design at a board meeting Thursday.

The HHS’s new logo depicts the historic Heller-Wagner Grist Mill that is maintained by the society and includes a museum as well as the 1860 Walnut Street Bridge, aka the Pony Bridge, which is located on the other side of W. Walnut Street from the mill. The Pony Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2023 and historical society representatives have said they hope to achieve the same level of recognition for the grist mill, parts of which date from the 18th century.
Prior to the unveiling, HHS board member Don Mills explained that the society decided to hold a logo contest last year because it wanted a design that better reflects the organization as it exists today.
Mills said a total of 10 submissions were received, with the winning design coming all the way from the Philippines.
Graphic designer Warren Policarpio will receive $500 in prize money donated by HHS supporters for creating the winning design, and although he wasn’t able to be present for the unveiling, a video was recorded that will be shared with him.
To help celebrate the new logo’s launch, meeting attendees and invited guests received note pads and magnetic fridge clips featuring the circular design, which Policarpio said reflects community collaboration and archival preservation; efforts that are core components of the Hellertown Historical Society’s mission.
“The design process for the Hellertown Historical Society logo began with a deep understanding of the organization’s mission to preserve the borough’s rich history, landmarks and community spirit,” he said in a statement, adding that “the logo draws inspiration from key elements that embody Hellertown’s heritage.”
The HHS receives support from members who help fund its ongoing efforts to preserve the borough’s past as well as provide educational programming for local students. The historic Tavern Room inside the grist mill is a popular meeting place and event venue that is available to rent for private functions, and the HHS hosts a number of special events throughout the year.
Among them is the annual Saucon Valley Easter Egg Hunt at Dimmick Park in Hellertown, which this year will be held Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. The egg hunt is for children ages 2 to 12 and is free for the community to attend.
