Lower Saucon Police Cite 18 for Speeding

A narrow local road was the setting for an aggressive driving detail conducted by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department last week, where in the end police said nearly 20 drivers were cited for speeding over a five-hour period.

According to a post shared on the department’s Crimewatch site Monday, LSTPD officers cited a total of 18 drivers for exceeding the maximum speed limit of 35 mph in the 1300 block of Seidersville Road between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. March 27.

That section of Seidersville Road is west of Old Philadelphia Pike, near the township’s border with Salisbury Township.

Police said that in addition to the 18 speeding tickets they issued one citation for a stop sign violation, five citations for disobeying a traffic control device, four citations for driving an unregistered vehicle and two citations for driving on a suspended license, for a total of 30 tickets. Another person was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant.

“This enforcement effort aimed to promote safe driving habits and remind motorists of the importance of obeying traffic laws,” police said. “The Lower Saucon Township Police Department encourages all motorists to drive safely and responsibly, obeying all traffic laws to ensure the well-being of themselves and others on the road.”
