Irene L. Muschlitz (1931 – 2026)

Irene L. Muschlitz, 94, of Upper Nazareth Township, formerly of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Gracedale Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth C. Muschlitz, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2013. Born in Hellertown on Aug. 11, 1931, Irene was the cherished daughter of the late Marie (Raab) Christenson and Alexander Joseph Legat. Irene was a graduate of Hellertown High School, class of 1949. She was awarded “Most Ideal” and she was fine. Irene was a dedicated employee of the Bethlehem Housing Authority, where she worked for 10 years until her retirement. Deeply rooted in her community, she was an award-winning baker and seamstress. She was a volunteer all-around at many festivals, including Musikfest, Rose Garden Festival and Centennial of Hellertown. She was proud of crafting the original “Chicken Costume” for Bethlehem’s music festival.

SURVIVORS

She will be lovingly remembered by her family, including daughters: Lynn A., wife of John LaBarre of Walnutport, and Kay M., wife of Clifford Cole of Hellertown; sister: Kathleen R. Legat of Whitehall; grandchildren: John K. LaBarre, Jennifer L. Meijer and Matthew T. Cole; great-grandchildren: Naomi and Lillian LaBarre, and Jacob Meijer. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie Shiffer, in April 2006.

SERVICES

In accordance with Irene’s explicit wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Her final interment will take place privately at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Please keep the Muschlitz family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
