Chanin E. Deegan (1972 – 2026)

Chanin E. Deegan, 53, of Salisbury Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of James P. Deegan, with whom she shared 24 years of marriage last July 21. Born in Allentown on Dec. 15, 1972, Chanin was the cherished daughter of the late Walter F. Lorent. A dedicated and passionate educator, Chanin spent 25 years shaping young minds within the East Penn School District. Her commitment to education was backed by a profound academic journey; she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from East Stroudsburg University, and later achieved her Doctoral degree at Widener University. Chanin was a faithful member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem. She held a special place in her heart for Allentown Central Catholic and found her greatest joy in spending time at family events, creating lasting memories with those she loved most. She also leaves behind her beloved canine companion, Holli.

SURVIVORS

Chanin’s life was beautifully anchored by her love for her husband, James, and poured endlessly into the lives of her cherished children: Makenna M. Deegan, Caden D.J. Deegan and Ethan G.F. Deegan.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
