Rev. Albert E. Schneider Jr. (1942 – 2026)

The Rev. Albert E. Schneider Jr., 84, of Hellertown, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. Throughout his long and vibrant life, Al frequently expressed his deep desire to live to see the 250th anniversary of our country. Having lived his life exceptionally well, he peacefully fulfilled that final wish, passing away on Independence Day. Born in Lower Saucon Township on Jan. 28, 1942, Al was the son of the late Albert E. Sr. and Marion M. (Henninger) Schneider. He was the devoted husband of the late Angela (Parente) Schneider, who predeceased him on May 11, 1975. Albert was a man of remarkable intellect and varied talents, seamlessly bridging the worlds of education, finance and faith. A 1959 graduate of Hellertown High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English and Accounting from Moravian College in 1963. His early career began in education, teaching 12th grade English at Whitehall School District for several years. Al then transitioned into banking, where he spent three decades as a distinguished financial leader. He served as Assistant Controller for the 1st National Bank of Allentown, Assistant Vice President at Bucks County Bank and Trust, and Vice President and Director of Cost Accounting for Independent Bancorp and CoreStates Bank in Philadelphia. A graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Bucknell University, Al was highly respected in his field, notably serving as the Editor of the Journal of the National Association of Bank Cost Accounting (NABCA). Answering a profound call to ministry later in life, Pastor Al returned to academia, earning a Master of Arts in Religion Biblical Studies from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2002. Rev. Schneider served his internship at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Babylon, Long Island, before dedicating himself to local ministry. He served faithfully as the Pastor of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weissport for over 21 years, and as the Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Springtown for over a decade, where he also remained a dedicated member. Al believed deeply in giving back. He lent his time as a committee member for his sons’ Boy Scout Troop #329, served on the South Eastern Postal Customer Council and volunteered with the American Cancer Societyās “Road to Recovery” program, driving local cancer patients to their medical appointments.
