In a battle of two winless girls basketball teams Wednesday it was the Panthers, playing on their home turf, who got off to a good start and played to a fantastic finish.
The Saucon Valley girls basketball team got off to a bit of a slow start in their home game against the Pen Argyl Green Knights Monday. The team then seemed to recover, only to go cold for the second time in a row after halftime.
In their game against rival Palisades Saturday, the Saucon Valley girls basketball team started off slowly against the Lady Pirates and never really recovered, with 'less pounce to the ounce' throughout.
It was a competitive and close game when the Saucon Valley varsity girls basketball team went toe-to-toe with Quakertown Saturday afternoon at home in a non-league game.
Two struggling programs faced off Thursday night in search of a rare victory. Both Pen Argyl and Saucon Valley had an opportunity to climb out of the Colonial League East division basement. The Lady Panthers and Green Knights rolled up their sleeves and went to work on the hardwood. On this night, it would be Saucon Valley that would emerge with the victory.
Last night the Saucon Valley Lady Panthers hit the floor at Notre Dame Green Pond High School to battle with the Colonial League East leading Crusaders. Notre Dame is a traditional basketball powerhouse and put their record on the line against the Panthers. The Panthers were not able to keep pace on the scoreboard, but they certainly showed a tremendous amount of grit and played with an admirable, spirited effort. The Panthers fought hard, but lost 53-27.
The Saucon Valley Youth Girls 5th and 6th grade basketball teams participated in a scrimmage and post-practice mannequin challenge Friday night.
