Monday afternoon after classes, Phil Sams announced to his team that it was time for him to move on from being the head football coach for Saucon Valley high school.  "Samsy", a very popular coach with a great sense of humor, is well-respected throughout the entire Lehigh Valley and beyond. He is truly a players-coach and an all-around great guy.
The Mom Squad was back on the gridiron for a fourth consecutive season. Saucon Valley head football coach Phil Sams along with his players and staff hosted the Saucon Valley high school football program's mothers for a little sampling of what their sons will be experiencing with two-a-day practices scheduled to start next week.
It did not take long for the 2016 Saucon Valley Panthers to hit their stride and continue the quality of play that marked the success of their 2015 storybook season. But, the heroics did not happen right away.

The Saucon Valley Athletic Department announced Tuesday that Phil Sams has been hired as the 13th Head Football Coach in program history.
