LANTA to Run 2 Evening Buses to Hellertown During Musikfest
LANta–the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority–will again provide late night bus transportation will be provided to Hellertown during Musikfest, but only on a limited basis.
The authority confirmed on its website Tuesday that it will run two additional buses from its hub at Broad and Guetter streets in downtown Bethlehem to the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Rt. 412 south of Hellertown on weekends only.
Those Route 215 buses will depart Broad and Guetter at 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the festival.
The confirmation was made after a Saucon Valley resident asked about the Hellertown bus schedule during this year’s festival on the Musikfest Facebook page.
“Last year, LANta didn’t run the buses back to Hellertown after 8 p.m., different from years past when the buses ran back and forth every hour. When we asked LANta what happened, they said Musikfest didn’t want to pay to run those buses anymore,” wrote Sarah Paige Fried. “So, Musikfest, what’s the plan for this year? Buses every hour to and from Hellertown every hour, or will we be forced to cut our visits short and/or dry?”
Musikfest’s Facebook page responded:
“LANta service has never been booked or paid for by Musikfest, so there was just some miscommunication. There was a glitch last year on the first night of the festival which was quickly rectified and resolved for the remaining nights of the festival. There was no one left stranded at Musikfest on the first night. LANta accommodated those guests that were stuck. LANta has added two additional trips that will depart from Broad & Guetter (streets, Bethlehem) nightly during Musikfest at 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Hopefully this clears things up!”
Musikfest begins Friday, Aug. 7 (preview night is Aug. 6) and ends Sunday, Aug. 16.
Additional information about bus transportation via LANta can be found online, and LANta also has a Bus Tracker app that’s available for download to smartphone.
Out-of-town visitors who will be arriving at Musikfest by car are again being advised to avoid using I-78 and Rt. 412.
Under its website’s Directions & Parking tab, Musikfest notes that “(the) I-78 & Rt. 412 interchange is currently under major construction, so guests may experience significant delays.”
One of the festival’s two main satellite parking areas is located off Rt. 412 in South Bethlehem near the construction zone.
The IQOR lot is located at 240 Emery St. in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VII.
Shuttle service to the festival from the lot begins at 5 p.m. weekdays and 11:30 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Weekday daytime shuttle service is available from the other satellite lot at Martin Tower on Eighth Avenue in Bethlehem.
Parking at the IQOR lot is free. The shuttle cost is $4 per adult (13 and over); $2 per child (ages 6-12) when accompanied by an adult; and free for children 5 and under. That price includes same-day access to the North-South Transfer shuttles.
