Jim Gardner will be doing a lot more than celebrating the arrival of the year 2017 on Jan. 1. He will also be marking the one-year anniversary of his life as an entrepreneur.

Gardner owns and operates Jim Gardner State Farm Agency, which officially opened for business at 1057 Main St. in Hellertown on Jan. 1, 2016.

“The town of Hellertown has been amazing from the beginning,” Gardner said. “From working with the town officials with getting our agency, to other business owners, and to the clients that we work with every day, we have been welcomed and treated as a member of the community. This is definitely a great place to do business.”

Gardner’s agency provides insurance services for automobiles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, homes, renters and condos, along with business insurance, life insurance, health, banking, car loans and mortgages.

State Farm is well-known in the areas of auto and home insurance, according to Gardner, as the company is number one in both categories.

“I would love people to know that in addition to helping clients protect their property, State Farm is the number one life insurance company in the United States, where we offer many different life insurance options and annuities,” he said.

Customers can benefit financially from the diversity of insurance work done by State Farm, Gardner said, because those who purchase more than one State Farm policy can be eligible for discounts on their premiums.

Unfortunately, during the winter months, and in particular, the holiday season, there is typically a marked increase in vehicle break-ins, Gardner said. People can who are victims of a vehicle break-in can get help replacing possessions stolen from a vehicle through their auto, home or personal articles policies, he added.

“Locking your doors isn’t always enough to keep car thieves at bay,” Gardner said. “Whether they use the ‘smash-and-grab’ method or more sophisticated technology, a thief can break into your vehicle in minutes, making off with your possessions and leaving you with a damaged car to repair.

“Theft of the vehicle is covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto policy. Coverage varies for possessions based on the insurance coverage you may have,” he explained.

Prior to opening the agency, Gardner spent 15 years working in the rental car industry, where he earned a great amount of experience in business management, leadership and customer service.

“I have always had a passion for helping people and saw State Farm as an amazing opportunity to be able to do that with all of my clients,” he said.

Gardner uses his passion for helping others to benefit his friends and neighbors in Hellertown. His business has participated in Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day, the Saucon Valley Spirit Parade and the Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO’s Color Run, among other local events.

Right now the agency is serving as a drop-off location for Project Keep Warm (projectkeepwarm.org). The initiative is collecting winter items, including coats, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, blankets, tarps and hand/feet warmers for homeless children and adults throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley.
