A Lower Saucon Township surgeon who was formerly employed by St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill has had his medical license suspended on orders from the Pennsylvania Board of Osteopathic Medicine and the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine, meaning he cannot practice medicine in the Commonwealth, Lehigh Valley Live reported Thursday.

The orders say Keeney “may be an immediate and clear danger to the public health and safety,” the newspaper reported.

Scott Keeney, D.O., 41, of the 2000 block of Pheasant Court, was charged in March with felony Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud or Misrepresentation and misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, after state and local authorities say he allegedly stole the prescription opioid painkiller Fentanyl from a patient’s room and injected himself with it in the hospital.

Keeney and his family were in the news last summer, when a large tree fell on their campsite at Knoebels amusement park near Elysburg, Pa.

Keeney along with other family members was reportedly injured in the accident.
