Christ Lutheran Church of Hellertown, 69 Main St., will host its annual day of service and fellowship for the community on Sunday, Sept. 10 from noon to 4 p.m.
On “God’s Work, Our Hands Day,” people from the church will lead and participate in community service, create inter-generational participation and interaction, thank local first responders for their service to the community every day and increase awareness of faith-based service and fellowship.
The church welcomes active participation from everyone in the community, whether they are church members or not.
The day’s events will kick off at 12 p.m. with a free picnic lunch for all service project participants.
Service projects will mostly take place between 1 and 3 p.m. Projects include serving at Mary’s Shelter in Bethlehem, serving lunch at New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem, handyman projects for homebound seniors, playing games with seniors at the Front Street Apartments in Hellertown and making cards for seniors and military members. Volunteers can sign up by calling the church office at 610-838-0400 or going online with Sign-Up Genius.
There will also be service opportunities and entertainment for kids, including fire company displays between 1 and 3 p.m. Volunteers will play games with kids while adults engage with each other through service work.
